SME Monitoring’s journey began in 2006 supplying instrumentation to the groundwater monitoring sector with distributors in Namibia, Kathu, Durban, East London and Ghana. 2008 we were awarded a contract to supply, install, commission and maintain water management instrumentation at 32 sites in Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. Instrumentation was installed with remote monitoring to enable the Department of Public Works to view the status of plants and data online. A 36 months maintenance was included in the contract.
Soon after we were awarded a similar contract to install and maintain the monitoring systems at several wastewater plants at prison facilities in the KwaZulu Natal region. This was followed by the contract awarded for the repair of the refuelling automation system at the Waterkloof Airforce Base for the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
These contracts prompted us to shift our focus to remote monitoring and instrumentation. Reliable suppliers were sourced and distribution rights secured. In 2015 we opened a branch in Kathu where 150 remote borehole monitoring systems were installed at iron ore mines sending data to the mines own water management system as well as www.smedata.co.za for online monitoring. We have since appointed a distributor for the region.
We have held the supply contracts for monitoring instrumentation at the Department of Water and Sanitation from 2008 to 2012 and 2018 to 2020.
